  • RICS view on threat to proposed Heritage Protection Bill
    The Heritage Protection Bill, which is currently in draft form, was expected to be included in the Queen’s Speech following on from its inclusion in the Government’s draft legislative programme. RICS warmly welcomes the changes that will be brought about as a result of the measures in the Bill.

  • Northern Ireland construction update October 2008
    Workloads across the UK have broken eleven years of uninterrupted growth to decline at the fastest pace since 1995. Elsewhere, RICS Northern Ireland has recommended that government must only purchase land or property for social housing in areas where there is need and at a price that ensures best value for money.

    The new version of British Standard BS 1192 is now available. Its official name is BS 1192:2007 Collaborative production of architectural, engineering and construction information - code of practice.

  • E-tendering - about time too
    BCIS research suggests that nearly 80% of tender documents are still sent to and fro as hard copy in boxes, although increasingly more are sent by disc.
